Massimo Zanetti and Elsa Dreisig captivated Trondheim audiences with La Bohème in 2024, and now she and the Maestro return to with Strauss’s intense musical farewell on September 18.
The concert opens with the solemn Gesang der Apollopriesterin, from Strauss’s first orchestral songs. It will be followed by Vier letzte Lieder, his swan song, a melancholic and almost otherworldly beautiful description of transitions; from winter to spring, from day to night, and finally from life to death.
The evening concludes with one of Mahler’s most performed symphonies, Symphony No. 4, which offers a glimpse into the world of a child. Here, Elsa’s sparkling clear voice will convey both the wonders of nature and the sparkling starry sky seen through the curious eyes of a child.
