Maestro Zanetti’s conducting is always admirable.
Interpretation of Brahms’s Symphony No.3 was like the sun in the shining Italian sky: elegant and bright curve was engraved into a dark and stiff straight line.
Triple concerto by Beethoven was filled with variety of unique and characterful phrasing by Maestro Zanetti and the Gyeonggi Phil, and it gave us fancy and different feelings.

It has been a remarkable transformation for Gyeonggi Phil since Maestro Zanetti’s inauguration. The Italian conductor has already delivered flexible, delicate and polished performances with the Gyeonggi Phil.
Symphony No.3 by Brahms showed skilled interpretation and excellent playing with chamber musical details.
Even from the triple concerto, the orchestra’s detailed phrasing, the varied expression and subtle changes in timbre and volume were of high interst.

I got to understand why it’s so hardly achievable to fully bring to life all the feelings contained in Brahms Symphony No.3, but Maestro Zanetti showed clear breakthrough by detailed sound design and refined balance. It was also surprising that all the orchestra members reacted promptly to the conductor’s request.
Most importantly, volume control was incredible and made this performance successful.
